Pomegranates and Persephone

Room 10 are learning about Greek Myths and Legends, and they now know that myths explain natural phenomena like seasons.
Last week they read the story of Persephone. Poor  Persephone is kidnapped by Hades and ends up in the Underworld, where she eats 3 pomegranate seeds. In this myth, this explains why we get the 3 months of Winter on Earth. Tina was the only class member who knew what a pomegranate was, so today everyone got to try eating one...

Survival Island

This week Room 10 started playing the 'Survival Island' Game - a scenario has been set and everyone has found that they have survived a 'plane crash' in the Pacific and have ended up on remote islands in randomly selected groups. Now they have to work together co-operatively to solve problems and report back to the class on how they did this. Points are given throughout the game and the group with the most points is the winner...

Scary Narratives

In Term 3 Room 10 read and wrote scary narratives. Their writing had to include some horror elements, have an orientation, complication and resolution, and include some literary devices such as similes and onomatopoeia. Final proof reading was the responsibility of the authors. Here are some of the best ones:

The Witch The Hunt
Everyone in Room 10 knows Zak doesn't really enjoy having to write, however with some help from our Teacher Aide Zak was able to get his ideas written down and published ...

. The Little's

Shontelle  put considerable effort into her illustrations:
