Description Writing

Description Writing

Everyone in Room 10 had to describe a friend in the class, using the 'Perspectives' method. This was also the first time the new Chrome Books were used, and everyone agreed using Google Docs makes writing so much easier.

Let's support Riley!

Riley's big day is fast approaching - she shaves her hair to raise funds for cancer research this week. She has featured in the local paper and we've put posters up around the school.

If everyone at Tokoroa Intermediate donated a gold coin she would raise a lot of money...

Our epals

We are continuing our connection with a school in Chicago, Room 10 2014 wrote to students at this school last year and we the new Room 10's are writing to Mrs Ayala's new class. Today we looked at a Power Point they sent us and tried to guess who each of our epals was... Guess Who - our American epals

Riley is Going to Shave for a Cure

Shave for a Cure

Riley was the guest speaker at Friday's Assembly. She presented her power point and spoke to the school about her part in Shave for a Cure.
On 25 March she will shave off ALL of her hair to fundraise for cancer.
Room 10 think Riley is pretty amazing and hope lots of students at Tokoroa Intermediate will donate their spare change to her cause.

Some of last years class have already popped into donate...

House Captains 2015

The House Captains for 2015 were announced at last Friday's Assembly.
This was pretty much a Room 10 ( past and present) Assembly - as the Year 8's were waiting to see who would be House Captains - 4 members of our class (Emma, Elijah, Maddi and Thomas)  were given the job of running the Assembly, Riley was the guest speaker and Karma Ray and Ellie were in charge of the OHP and data projector.
The selection of House Captains is never an easy job and this year was no exception with so many great candidates, however it was finally narrowed down and the 16 students who the Staff considered showed the best leadership qualities,  received their badges.
Congratulations to all of you but an extra special congratulations to the 8 Students from last year's Room 10 who were selected.

Softball

The last couple of weeks have been busy ones. At lunch times the Interclass softball competition has been taking place, after a victory over our arch rivals Room 12 (whew! the team did everything right for this game, batted lots of home runs and caught and threw the ball accurately!) Room 10 being the unbeaten team in the competition - were announced the 2015 winners. We were all pretty happy about that - as Room 10 has a tradition of winning this competition to uphold as you can see in the photo below...
