Room 10’s Term 2
This term room 10 have been
learning about the importance of the Anzacs at Gallipoli.
We have been writing
description and diaries about how it would have been if we were at Gallipoli
and how life might’ve been for nurses or soldiers to put in our old newspaper.
Our class all dressed up in either nurse’s
uniforms or soldier’s uniforms so we can take a photo of ourselves to create a
description of our soldier/Nurse to put on our old newspaper.
We have also been reading
Anzac stories and learning about non-fiction features in these texts, along
with stories that included conscientious objectors and the things they went
through when they wouldn’t go to war, like for instance there is field
punishment number1,
Field punishment number1 is
when you get tied up to a pole and get left there for a long time; even if it
is snowing they get left out there on the pole.
We had an Anzac soldier’s
lunch it was absolutely terrible there was stringy bully beef and really hard
biscuits, the biscuits weren’t that bad, they were just too hard, nobody liked
the bully beef except for Phoenix, Cheyden and Ezekiel they thought it was
delicious.
The day after that Kiana
brought some different army rations there was beef noodles, chocolate, curry, crackers, condensed
milk and lots more they were way better then the other lunch we had.
During our Anzac studies, A group
went to the cooking room with Mrs Duffin on senior teacher release to make
Anzac biscuits, there they learnt how to make Anzac biscuits with a partner, at
the end of the day we had a room 10 annual biscuit competition and our lucky
winners were Kiana and Cora with a set of 2 lovely looking biscuits.
On the 27th of June Room 10 had a
special assembly, it was special because room 10 pupils were either getting
awarded or giving speeches, for instance our deputy class councillor Nevada
introduced her friend Te Amorangi in front of the whole school, Kiana Mclean
got best book and was also our guest speaker, she talked about her experiences
overseas. Karma got most improved book and the Room 10 Ki o Rahi team came
first and got rewarded with a trophy that Kani Manu held in replace of our
captain Bailie A.K.A captain foolish, who
was away with an injury.
Room 10 has accomplished
lots of things and are sure to accomplish more next term.
Written by Akeisha and
published by Karma and Nevada.
