Marae time again

The highlight of our year in Room 10 is when the class go to our local Marae - Papa O Te Aroha in Term 4.
This year we went for three nights, the class took part in a powhiri, learned the stories behind many of the carvings, helped prepare and eat a hangi, wove harakeke fish and bracelets with Whaea Lizzy, and learned tititorea games with Whaea Awhina.

They played Ki O Rahi with Eugene the sports promoter from Raukawa, painted a fence to give something back to the Marae and complete a Student Volunteer Army Challenge for School Kit NZ, took part in Room Ten's Got Talent, had a swim at the local pools, leaned to play Moonball and spent Halloween watching Maleficent 2 at the Tokoroa Cinema.

Day One the class travelled over to Te Awamutu to the Space Centre where they learned a lot from Space Dave and went to the Te Awamutu Museum to find out about the early navigators who discovered New Zealand.

Day Two saw the side fence and seats painted, luckily the weather was good. This was followed by a swim at the pools, hangi for dinner and Room Ten's Got Talent...
