2023 in Room 10: Rotorua EOTC, Aotearoa Histories - Kupe and early Aotearoa, Candles, The Anzac Poppy Challenge , Holiday Poems

Our learning about Kupe and his journey to Aotearoa, raised the question - what was Aotearoa like before humans arrived?

As part of our Aotearoa Histories learning, the class went to Rotorua to learn about the legendary explorer Kupe:







After a lot of great learning, it was time for lunch and some fun at the lakefront.














Poetry time again - remembering our holidays and creating word clouds 

 After completing our learning about Kupe and his voyage to Aotearoa, Abigail and Azaylia created labels of all the places he had visited. These were added to our class map. 


Anzac Day was remembered with a collaborative technology challenge. Who could make the tallest free-standing poppy: 










In Science, the class furthered their knowledge of Matter - solids, liquids and gases. They found out about what is needed for burning to take place and what changes take place when a candle burns.
