2023 in Room 10 - Life Ed', Puzzle Exchange, The Class in '2068', Mr Straw returned, End of Year and Te Whare Pono Prizegiving

Te Whare Pono's Prizegiving was held on 6 December and was organised and run by our group of dedicated School and Whare leaders.

Lots of certificates were given out to acknowledge hard work in class and Huarahi subjects, leadership, Maths Whizz, high levels of attendance, and to farewell our Year 8's as they head off to High school.

Whaea Awhina was farewelled - she off to Waikato University to further her Te Reo Maori knowledge, we will miss her a lot, as she has been instrumental in helping set up and teach Te Whare Pono chants, haka, and waiata .

To end the year, the class did the Santa challenge in groups - create a Santa costume, make a freestanding Christmas tree and decorate it, wrap a gift, and sing a verse from a Christmas song...

This was followed by a good old 'shared lunch'

Alex left us before school finished to go on an amazing trip to China for 7 weeks, the class enjoyed seeing pictures of his travels:

Room 10 did the Ko Au puzzle activity with the classes in Tahiti and Ohio, USA again:

You are an important part of the puzzle :   ( click here to see the finished work)

Room 10 knows their teacher is "old", I've taught many of their parents and siblings, so I decided to give them an idea of what they might look like when they are 60 years old.

Phil Straw a former Principal came to see Room 10 and spoke to the class about his time teaching in Pakistan and what life there is like.

The Life Education Caravan returned in November - always good to see Harold again. Thanks to Lisette for some great learning about Vaping; what's in a vape and the effect vapes have on your health.
